Last weekend I got to check something off of my running bucket list:
3 Race Challenge
Disney Run with Family
Overnight Team Run
I’m sure there is more on it but I’ve never written it down before….
Here is the short version:
7:26 Per Mile
9:13 Per Mile
9:06 Per Mile
I’m THRILLED with all of these times, I knew the 2.5 k would be fast my goal was 13-14 min so 11:32 was insane I still can’t believe my pace. The race itself was a lot of work (driving, parking and such) for an 11 min run but in the scheme of a 3 race challenge and it was worth it. I also loved that they market this race as an opportunity for young girls to race. Its short, they have a “Girls Rock” t-shirt available and the whole event is kid friendly.
The 10k was amazing, if I’m honest I knew I would PR I haven’t done a lot of timed 10k’s and the ones I have done were either a long time ago or I was pregnant. I didn’t however expect my time to drop 3 min 9 seconds!! That is 30 seconds per mile faster!! Not to mention the elevation was 1200 feet….I’m so excited. I’m running more without my headphones in and I’m finding that influences my speed as well, I wonder why. Oh and I even got my negative splits! 10:04, 9:24, 9:09, 9:08, 9:06, 8:24.
The 5k was hard to start, I had 50 min to kill between the 10k and the 5k. I tried to stay warm during that time, I ate a banana, a dole fruit cup and a 1 bite salted nut roll, and of course some water. I found a work buddy of mine and we chatted for a bit and then it was time to line up again. When I lined up this time I met a pretty cool lady, Mary from Running on Air, she is running to “Raise awareness for lung diseases in general and for those who use oxygen.” She ran with a portable O2 concentrator. If you want to know more about her and how you can help her raise money click the link above. I’m thinking about doing her virtual race. Anyway the 5k was pretty, I love the road, you feel like you run out of the city pretty quickly even though your still in the heart of it.
I can’t wait to do it all again next year!
