Dishes, laundry and dust bunnies are the bane of my exsistance. I can’t keep up with them to my level of satisfaction and I can’t ignore them without stressing out and losing time.
For some reason I feel (as so many of us do) that I can do everything. I can work a full time job, take care of my family, cook, run a tiny photography business, exercise, promote fitness and still keep my house spotless….
Not going to happen.
I still tried, and failed and it honestly was a huge stress point for me. So I tried to no worry about it, I cleaned up when I could but I didn’t ‘stress’ over it. After a few months of this strategy I realized that wasn’t going to work for me either. It caused more stress and became a big time waster. I spent my whole weekend picking up, not even getting to the cleaning and then stressing out when it was all a mess again by Monday night. Not to mention all the time wasted looking for things, or cleaning when I had to instead of having a clean surface to start with (before cooking for example.)
So that didn’t work for me. Now what? I still don’t have time to have a spotless house but I need some level of cleanliness to keep me sane. I haven’t figured it out yet but I’m starting with the basics. The biggest time waster was dishes. By not keeping up with them when I needed something right now, it wasn’t available. So my first goal is to keep up with the dishes….I HATE DISHES! It sure has been nice to be able to need a pan, or a bottle and have it clean and ready not to have to hand wash it.
I’m going to try a few different strategies over the next few weeks about the rest of the house I’ll let you know what I think. What works for me might not work for you and some things I don’t like might be your perfect match so I’ll talk about them all.
