Family Aspiration {Financial Freedom}

After a lot of talking, budgeting and dreams of the future, Mac and I have decided that our future should not include our current debit (mortgage not included.) We are blessed to not have any credit card debit, however we do still have a student loan and a car payment.

We have decided our future would look a whole lot brighter without those monthly obligations. We want to pay for things with cash, we hope to take our girls on a few ‘big’ trips, we don’t want to stress about money. Since becoming independently wealthy isn’t going to happen in the next few weeks we decided to take a different approach. We are going to pay both of these things of early. We are going to set a budget, stick to it and use any extra money no matter how small to start attacking these debits.

After talking to some friends who have completed Dave Ramsey’s Total Money Makeover and Financial Peace University we have decided to use his guidelines. We won’t be following his plan exactly, mainly because my poor little brain would explode if we took our savings down as low as he suggests, which would definitely not be stress relieving. However that being said we won’t be adding to our savings account until these debits are paid off.

Over the next months and probably up to 2 years I’ll be talking periodicaly about our road to financal freedom, why we wanted to get out of debit and maybe even a few hints along the way. That is after I learn them 😉
