Drink more water {Healthy Holidays}

I know I’m writing this as a healthy holidays post but really these hints can apply all of the time.

First off lets establish the medical reasons why we need water (according to WebMD)

  1. Drinking Water Helps Maintain the Balance of Body Fluids.
  2. Water Can Help Control Calories.
  3. Water Helps Energize Muscles.
  4. Water Helps Keep Skin Looking Good
  5. Water Helps Your Kidneys
  6. Water Helps Maintain Normal Bowel Function

For the sake of Healthy Holidays I’m going to talk about #2 water can help control calories. The biggest way it can do this is by replacing other high calorie drinks. However it can also help in other ways. Next time you think your hungry try drinking some water first, chances are your thirsty and miss-interpreting the signals. This quick water break will also give you time to figure out weather or not your emotionally eating or truly hungry. Then if you are hungry you will already have a little in your stomach to help you feel that full sensation faster.

I would love for you to focus on this specifically on New Years Eve when many people tend to drink more than normal. I would like to suggest you drink at least 8 oz of water between every alcoholic beverage you have on Wednesday 16 oz would be even better, this will not only cut down how many drinks you have ( and eliminating calories) but also helping your body process the alcohol a little better (mostly because your giving your body a break in between.)
