There seems to be a misconception out there that if you just eat the ‘right foods’ (i.e. not pre-packaged full of junk stuff but real food) you can eat as much as you would like and not gain weight. Wrong! Calories still do and always will matter. If your eating more than your body can process in a day then you will gain weight, if you are eating less, then you will lose. It’s pretty simple really. While you body might run better, and process clean foods more efficiently that doesn’t eliminate the calories. Now here is the catch, there isn’t any one size fits all plan out there, everyone burns a different calorie rate per day depending on body type, fitness level, metabolism and probably many other things I have no idea about. There are general guidelines of course (the most common I’ve heard for losing weight is between 1,200-1,300 calories per day) but its not a one size fits all deal and it’s certainly not a magic foods deal. Just remember both quantity and quality count weather or not your trying to lose, maintain or gain weight.
