Disney Princess 10k {23 Days and counting}

Ok, Ok the actual race is 25 days out but I fly out on Feb 20th so as of that day training officaly ends.

Training….yeah…so that isn’t going so hot. Between snow, crazy cold temps, baby, a cold, my inability to run more than 3 miles on a treadmill without being so board I give up….its not going so hot. Oh and did I mention I’m sick? Yeah that isn’t helping either, but it does expliane why this post is a day late.

Anyway Sunday I got some gumption and was ready to run outside in our balmy 17 degree weather…until I felt the wind, nope not going to happen. So  I decided I was going to do 5 miles on the treadmill.  Slow and steady wins the race right? I texted 2 of my friends and asked them to text me encouragement in about an hour (so I had time to get to the gym change my shoes and start running) so that I didn’t quit after 3 miles. My Mom also called me on my way there and I asked her to do the same thing.

It was just the motivation I needed I didn’t want to quit in case someone texted me, and sure enough at 4 miles I got one from my Mom. I didn’t know it at the time but my iMessage was down so my friends never got my text. Anyway it was a great motivation and if I can run 5 on the treadmill I can do 6.2 on the ground. It might not be fast but it will get done 🙂

That leads me to the whole point of this run, its the experience I want. That is why I choose the 10k I wanted to be able to run a Disney race and still have the energy to have fun before and after it. I didn’t want to have to go to bed at 5PM just to have enough sleep and energy for a 1/2 marathon. I completely understand why people do, its just not for me. I’ll keep my 1/2 marathons closer to home.

This trip is going to be just me and my not so little brother. We are planning on 1 day in Disney and 2 at universal Studios…we will see what happens with that 4th day. I’m so excited!
