Well guys and gals I have 6 weeks left till baby Apple is due…crazy. Because of that life is obviously changing. I ran last week but only once, for about 1.5 miles. I wanted to run more but honestly life got in the way, not baby.
Anyway back to the topic, at this point exercise needs to change, I’m tiring out much easier and while my balance is still pretty good ( which is kind of amazing I’ve never had great balance) I do have obvious physical limitations. One of those limitations is my right shoulder I seemed to have irritated an old injury and I’m trying to limit my use of it as much as possible, which is hard.
So here are some ways I’m changing up my exercise for the next 6-8 weeks.
- When/if I run I stick closer to home. For the next 2-3 weeks I’ll run the trail that goes about a total of maybe 3 blocks from my house circling around a pond. After that if I’m still walking or running I’ll keep it to our neighborhood.
- I’m not doing my full yoga anymore. Unfortunately this puts too much weight and strain on my shoulder. However I am still making stretching a priority.
- I’m finding other ways to exercise. Luckly for me my balance is still pretty good so biking has worked for me. Also I got a maternity suit recently so I’m going to hit the pool.
- I’m reminding myself that right now cleaning is a workout for me…pretty much anything is and that is ok and not ‘cheating.’
I’m also reminding myself that I have other priorities right now, ones with an upcoming dead line and those take precedence over exercise. While its still a priority for me to stay active I also have to remember my #1 priority is getting ready for this little girl and keeping her safe and healthy.
Do you have any hints or suggestions for me? Specificly alternitive forms of exercise?
