So we get a lot of credit card offers in the mail…I’m really not sure why, but I like to assume its our stellar credit! Any way its a lot of junk, wasted paper and wasted time.
A few weeks ago I finally read one and found an address where I could mail my personal information and have them remove me from the pre-approved list. Heck no! But that got me thinking, how do I stop these offers?!?
I got a few more in the mail yesterday and I decided to go ahead and read them again. Low and behold I found a phone number for the opt out line! You can choose how long you want to opt-out or in from offers and all you have to do is answer a few simple questions. The best part for me was I found the number on 2 separate offers from different companies and after a web search its legit!
So being green dosen’t have to be hard just do the following:
To opt out for five years: Call toll-free 1-888-5-OPT-OUT (1-888-567-8688) or visit www.optoutprescreen.com. The phone number and website are operated by the major consumer reporting companies.
To opt out permanently: You may begin the permanent Opt-Out process online at www.optoutprescreeen.com. To complete your request, you must return the signed Permanent Opt-Out Election form, which will be provided after you initiate your online request.
