My 1/2 Marathon Necklace {Giveaway}

Even before I ran my 1/2 Marathon back in May I knew when it was done I wanted a hand stamped necklace that I could where to celebrate that accomplishment. I hinted to Mac about it but apparently my hints wern’t bold enough so last month I took matters into my own hands and contacted Lynn from Oak Hill Designs, I’ve heard about her from a few friends on Facebook and wasn’t disappointed.

I found her iRun necklace right away but wanted just a little bit more, I messaged her asking if she could add another charm. After a quick response my necklace was in process and on its way! Isn’t it pretty?

ย

Well guess what?!?! You can win one for yourself!

Don’t worry if you don’t run we have options keep reading:

First a little interview with the talented lady herself.

Tell me a little about yourself and your family.

I am married to my husband, tom and we have two children-ashton (18), who will be a freshman at the University of Iowa in three short weeks and a son, john (16) who will be a junior this fall. I also have a furry child-our cockapoo, tate. ๐Ÿ™‚

How did you get started with hand stamped jewelry and what prompted you to make the jump to an Etsy store?

My mom saw a really cool stamped necklace in a mail order catalog and said, ‘lynn, I think you could make this.’ I ordered a stamp set and taught myself to stamp jewelry! ๐Ÿ™‚ I started on etsy after seeing an article in our newspaper. I knew I needed an internet page for my store and etsy fit the bill! I do also have a store on bigcartel.com.

What is your favorite piece you have made? Why?

My favorite piece seems to change often ๐Ÿ™‚ my two current favorites are the ampersand piece and the coin pearl cup. I love that all of my pieces are versatile and can be worn from daytime to evening to formal wear.

What make your product different than most other hand stamped stores?

I’m not sure that this makes me different from any other seller, but I never send out a piece that I wouldn’t wear myself. I have had requests for different pieces that I knew wouldn’t look the best and have gently steered my customers to something different that they would love just as much.

Amber here I will add that all of her items (I think all) are sterling silver not silver coted nickel this is a big difference in my opinion.

Anything elseย Fun?

I did quit my day job as a certified pharmacy technician in may of 2011 to devote myself full time to Oak Hill Designs. so happy I made that decision…I haven’t looked back once!

  1. Hello! I like the “I run’ piece … I don’t run myself , but I know somebody who does

And I find the sterling tree of life very , very nice !!!!

  2. I love the “I run” necklace! I know many do not understand why I run or what I get out of it but it truly has become part of who I am!

  3. I would <3 love to have the hand stamped necklace, mother & daughter "the love between a mother and daughter <3 forever". My mother unexpectedly passed away at the end of April and I have really been missing her. This would be a great way to remind me that she is with me forever.

  4. These are so cute! I’ve done four halfs and am going for my first full in January! I just hope to make it across the finish line – without the help of an ambulance!

  5. Congratulations on your half-marathon! It is such an accomplishment. I am actually running my first half in six weeks. I am so anxious, nervous, and excited at the same time. I feel so unprepared. The latter portion of my summer has been crazy hectic and thanks to sickness/injuries, I have fallen behind on training. Even with this in mind, I am staying positive that in six weeks, I will run my half-marathon, cross that finish line, and achieve one of my life goals!

My dream piece is YOUR necklace. So basically, can I have it? KIDDING. But, to be honest, my dream piece seriously would be the iRun pendant with the 13.1 pendant. Why? Because I want something to commemorate this race, similar to how you did. And I want to add a charm for my future races, aka my first MARATHON. And on from there. ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. I have been curtailed from running after running four 1/2 marathons last year. I am doing other strength training and am able to ( after a year off) return to running!! I truly missed it and now know I Love Running! I like the I run necklace best!

  7. I love the I Run necklace! Training for a 1/2 and wearing this would be a perfect way to remind me to get out there and run!!

  8. The custom letter charm bracelet is really neat. I haven’t seen anything like that from other metal stamp artists.

  9. Ooh…Love the i run necklace, but also love the ampersand! That was part of our wedding them…and even the initials are the same in the picture ๐Ÿ™‚ Beautiful pieces — and from a fellow Iowan! Great giveaway!

  10. I love the “i run” necklace because I really do run! It’s my first year of Cross Country and i’m really nervous for my first meet which is in 2 weeks! AHH! So nerve wracking! I’ve been running for almost a year already and can’t imagine myself ever stopping! I simply love running (:

  11. My dream piece would be not only an “i run” with the sneaker but on the flip side it has “i bike” with a little bike as well ๐Ÿ˜€
