10k Training: I signed up for a 10k!

I signed up for my first 10k!!

It’s not until June 30th so I have plenty of time to train and I have a training plan so that is good.  Plus its for a great cause, I’m running for the Children’s Cancer Research Fund. For more information on why I choose this race check out my post from Saturday, I’m Running for Mark.

So the plan I’m following is actually a 10 week half-marathon training plan from Runners World last year. I actually have 11 weeks but I’m thinking I will do something like repeat week 9 to make it an 11 week plan. My main goal is to work on my pacing so here is weeks 1 & 2 (so I don’t bore you with a schedule every week.

Week 1

  • Tuesday- 3 Miles EZ
  • Thursday- 3 Miles EZ
  • Friday- Vinyasa Yoga
  • Saturday- 3 Miles EZ
  • Sunday- 5 Miles LSD

Week 2

  • Tuesday- 3 Miles EZ
  • Thursday- 4 Miles EZ
  • Friday- Vinyasa Yoga
  • Saturday- 3 Miles EZ
  • Sunday- 5Miles LSD

EZ- Run at conversational Pace        LSD- Long Slow Distance
