Umm I have a problem… My seed pots are molding, I’m assuming too much moisture was the problem but how do I fix it? Can it be fixed or should I just try this again next year and buy plants this year? I’m so bummed out. I think next year I’m going to use random containers I have around the house so that they can’t mold as easy as the coconut fiber 🙁
Help I need your advice!
Yes, it’s a kind of mold called “Damping Off”. You have to be really careful not to overwater your little plants once they’ve sprouted. So disappointing to hear Amber! I don’t think it’s too late to re-plant. You could try again and see… Best of luck!
What a bummer… I have heard that chamomile tea works… something about the oils in the chamomile. Some dilute it; some don’t, just let it cool completely and spray it on the mold. Otherwise, perhaps a dusting of cinnamon? Good luck!
Your plants should still be fine, even with a bit of mold. Just scrape off any mold on the soil or move them into new pots. Seedlings need moisture but not to be overmoist. So it’s best to either spray them with a bottle mister (also helps to keep the seeds from getting lost in the pot) or to water from the bottom when you can…and then pour off excess at the end of the day so they don’t start molding again.
