Lets get the details out of the way, I was given a copy of this book to review, no other incentive, just the book. When I started reading this I wasn’t sure it was going to be the book for me, I don’t have business in the normal sense I have a blog that I’m trying to promote and hopefully someday make some money on.
I was wrong, there are so many great concepts in the book. One of the common thoughts throughout the book was to grow your account naturally. This is one of those areas that is hard to do sometimes when your dreaming of bigger numbers. I personally have fallen into the trap of follow me so you can win ______. We all have. Jessica has great ideas of how to stay true to spirit and still have substantial growth in followers. I’ve started implementing her ideas and without giveaway incentives my daily twitter growth hasn’t slowed down. Here is a quote from the book that really hit me its in the Joining the Twitterverse chapter pg 21.
Your content is more valuable than follower count. Good content, insightful comments, and clear and consistent message will organically grow your followers. Do not be fooled into believing that the number of followers determines your celebrity or value on Twitter; having a large number of followers though, does increase the probability that your message will be retweeted or read by others.
One of the best features of the book is that it covers everything from the Twitter newbies to the old pros. I’ve been using Twitter for a while but I still learned things from the first 3 chapters of the book, What is Twitter?, and Joining the Twitterverse. The Basic Twitter Applications chapter had great suggestions for 3rd party applications and I found the perfect one for me.
Not only does it give you tons of ideas it gives you ways to keep your time on Twitter under control Lets face it as blogger the last thing we need is one more thing taking up our time and tying us to the computer.
Pick up this book if you have a business of any type and want to develop your Twitter account so that it is more effective.
You can buy Tweet This on Amazon Sorry there is no giveaway on this one, I’m still using mine but maybe when I’m done I’ll give it away….nah I’m keeping this one, sorry.
I’d love to borrow it. I have much to learn but I agree with the quote you shared.
That does sound like an interesting book 🙂 I have a twitter account but it’s been sadly neglected. I love reading the interesting things that people talk about though. I also agree with the author regarding content of a blog/tweets. I think that content is what draws people in. Not just any content but content that shares a lot about who the author is. I think that’s why I love coming here so much. I love reading about your life and your quest to be green. It’s very different from all the parenting and mom blogs that I read on a regular basis 🙂
