Decorating the green way is pretty simple, reuse, buy used or buy green.
Reuse
I don’t have a ton of decorations for fall but I don’t think I’ve ever used them in the same way twice from year to year. Keep some basics in storage, glass vases, candles in neutral colors and glass decor beads. Use those in conjunction with your fall items to decorate the house. Here are some examples:
Another good idea is a ‘reusable’ wreath its really easy to make and in the future all you need to do is change out the felt pad with the next seasons decorations. Here is the one I made last month and here is the link to the inspiration from Scraps and Scribbles.
Buy Used
Craigslist is a great resource for this. Just this week I got a brand “new” Christmas tree for our house. Goodwill and other thrift stores are a great place to look, many people (myself included) donate to them.
Buy Green
If you do have to buy new, and we all will at one time or another search for green alternatives to the traditional methods. Sometimes just buying local helps with this. Other times you can find things like these Eco Friendly Recycled Christmas Ornaments on Etsy, another find were these cute stockings from recycled felt also from Etsy. I found those on a real quick search I’m sure there are many, many more!

Guess it’s about time I “fall” up my house. 🙂 I like your hurricane vase with the leaves, stones and candle. Looks really nice. Last year I bought a bunch of dried pieces of oranges, fake apples and other stuff like that for 50% right before Christmas. I also use them differently each time I bring them out — my MIL constantly buys me candles to decorate with so I always seem to have a new place to put stuff 🙂
