The here and now.

(This is a pic from my, phone a few weeks ago, its to dark out to take one tonight…)

I’m sitting on the couch listening to the rain pour down, its one of my favorite sounds. I should be going to bed but I’m in a contemplative mood. I’m always in a contemplative mood after the conference…

There has been a lot going on lately and its all made me realize something. The biggest thing lately is that there were cuts at work, people got laid off. That is scary, I’m not too worried about my job but it makes you think ya know? We are trying to save more money, just in case. Its made me take a look at our spending habits. It is also is the inspiration behind the August no buy month if I’m honest with myself. The second thing its done is made me take a look at some of my work habits. I’m a good worker but like everyone else there are things that can be improved. With my ADHD distractions come easy, especially when I’m interpreting a conversation I view to be boring. I’m going to focus on the here and now. For example, I will not even attempt to multi-task while interpreting…this should seem obvious but I guess not. This also translates into my home life, I’m also going to try and be more focused at home. Not doing 5 things at once. I’m typing this in a dark living room with only the puppy breathing and the rain falling as a distraction and its quite peaceful, I like it. Its not going to be easy I’m always pushing my self to get more done faster, but I think it will be a good thing.

  1. I do the same thing, I always have more than one task started when I should just start one, then finish it, because typically inbetween I get lost and forget where I was. I Just need to remember to slow down and breathe.

  2. Same here. I am always finding myself tackling more projects than finishing them. I should try to focus on one thing at a time too but it’s so hard these days to find time to myself that I end up trying to do as much as I can when I get the chance to. Focusing on the here and now…that’s what I need to do too 🙂
